Kennet & Avon Canal, Berkshire
NGR: SU618686.
Having just joined the Pillbox Study Group and having received my 1st copy of loopholes yesterday, I thought it would be good to send a recent picture taken at Ufton Bridge, alongside the Kennet and Avon canal in Berkshire.
According to Ironsides book it is a rectangular infantry box. Is it a type 26?
It has 3 loopholes and seems to be camouflaged by way of lines through the concrete sides, of which still have remnants of wood in them. It also seems to have a house brick course along the bottom. It certainly is unusual compared to others I have seen.
Opposite the lock is a type 28a which has been semi-blocked up to stop vandals getting in.
