 ‘One-Off’ Design Pillbox
Located on the Western side of the Mount
Concrete block constructed ‘one-off’ design. From the front and side elevation it appears that the Pillbox is rectangular but from the rear you can see that it is a ‘wedge’ shape, fitting neatly into the overhang of the natural rock face.
Inside the Pillbox you immediately understand the complexity of the design!
 Type 24 Pillbox
Located on the South-eastern side of the Mount
A Type 24 pillbox with protected rear entrance. This particular Pillbox is used by the National Trust Gardeners as a storage shed!
Type 24 Pillbox
Located on the South-western side of the Mount
Another Type 24 with a protected rear entrance. Concrete block construction.
Note
All the Pillboxes are located in the ‘Private’ Garden and can only be viewed when they are open to the public. Check with the National Trust before your visit to the Mount to ensure that the gardens are also open along with the castle!
