Eastern Command Type
This Type is almost unique to Essex (two exist north of Cambridge) and only occur on the main Eastern Command line. It is an Infantry variant of the Vickers Machine Gun Emplacement (VMG), being square in plan with external walls 4m in length. The front corners are usually chamfered. It varies from the VMG because the three forward faces have Bren embrasures and the door is in the rear face rather than the side. As with the VMG the door is covered by a thick blast wall, but this also has a Bren embrasure in it allowing fully automatic fire to the rear, although the shooter would be exposed to the flanks. The walls are thick at approximately 3ft.
